Psychometry is the practice of picking up information from an object.

It is a thumbprint of information usually of the person that owned the object.  Most often I use this technique when reading information of a person’s personality type, in addition to locating loved ones that have passed over.  It is the ability to perceive the characters, surroundings, and events connected with a person by holding an object belonging to that person in ones hands. It was first named and discussed in the modern age by J. Rhodes Buchanan, an American scientist, in 1842. Derived from the Greek words ‘pschic’ (soul) and ‘metron’ (measure) and signifies “soul-measuring”, or “measurement of the human soul”. Buchanan’s theory was based on the belief that every thought, action, and event that has ever occurred since the beginning of time has left an impression on ether. This impression will never be erased during what is considered as time. This is why many closely related the ability of psychometry to the Akashic Records. Buchanan also thought the impressions were not only left on ether but on more palpable objects such as trees and stones as well.

When teaching psychometry, I do so as a tool to prove to my students that a) they are accurate and b) they don’t have to have a person present to give a great reading.  Objects hold energy, a name holds energy, a birthplace and date holds energy, a photograph holds energy.  There is nothing that can not be utilized to achieve the same outcome.  Some people fine tune this skill because it feels right to do readings using a visual tool, much in the same way a medium may say it is their guide giving them the information.  I personally feel the information comes from a collective consciousness that I listen to, then translate.  It is a great way for beginners to get in touch with their personal gifts.  I believe it is the focus of holding the object that brings the information quicker.  Keep in mind that it is the focus that is required to do the reading, not the object.  Once you have mastered “focus”, no object is needed.  If you want more information on classes being offered by Wistaria please add yourself to the mailing list on the home page.
